《ET Net News Agency, 28th Special Report》An avalanche occurred on Sunday (27th) at Himlung Himal in Mugu District, northern Nepal, burying a climbers' camp. Two bodies have been recovered, ten people rescued, and twelve remain missing. A major landslide occurred just a month ago along Nepal's border with Tibet, killing at least 1,500 people.
Thakur, founder of the mountaineering expedition company Himalayan Holidays Trekking, said the missing individuals are all Nepali mountain guides and logistics personnel who were responsible for setting up camps, clearing and mapping routes, and installing ropes before foreign climbing teams arrived. At the time of the incident, no foreign climbers had yet arrived.
Thakur said due to severe weather and heavy snowfall on the mountain, helicopters were initially unable to reach the site for rescue operations, which resumed on Monday. (yc)
