[ET Net News Agency, 5 May 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$64.54 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$13.3 billion, or 20.61% of the market's turnover. There were 796 short-selling stocks. TRACKER FUND (02800) and XIAOMI-W (01810) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.93 billion and HK$937.77 million, or 14.5% and 7.05% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 39.31% and 54.4% of respective stock's turnover.
HSCEI ETF (02828) and BYD COMPANY (01211) registered HK$590.72 million and HK$567.03 million of short sales, accounting for 4.44% and 4.26% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 41.87% and 46.74% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND closed down HK$0.32, or 1.22%, to HK$25.92. XIAOMI-W ended down HK$1, or 3.23%, to HK$29.98. HSCEI ETF fell HK$1.14, or 1.27% to HK$88.84. BYD COMPANY declined by HK$3.3, or 3.2%, to HK$99.7.
